Privacy Policy

MyDietJourney ("we", "us") provides tools for tracking weight, nutrition, and wellness goals. Your health data is sensitive, and we treat it that way. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • Account information — name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text).
  • Health and wellness data you log — weight entries, meals, photos of food, water intake, goals, and physical attributes like height.
  • Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
  • Usage data — basic technical logs (pages visited, errors) used to keep the service running.

How we use your data

  • To provide the service: tracking, charts, projections, and progress history.
  • To power AI features: food photos and your logged data are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate nutrition estimates and coaching responses. This data is not used to train AI models.
  • To communicate with you about your account (password resets, billing, service updates).

AI features and third-party data sharing

MyDietJourney uses artificial intelligence to analyze meal photos and to power your AI coach. To provide these features, we send the following data to Anthropic, PBC, the provider of the Claude AI service:

  • Meal photos you choose to analyze, to estimate calories and macronutrients.
  • Messages you send to the AI coach, together with relevant data you have logged (such as recent weigh-ins, meals, and goals) so that responses are personalized.

This data is sent only when you actively use an AI feature (for example, tapping "Analyze with AI" or sending a message to the coach), and the app asks for your consent before any AI feature sends your data for the first time. Anthropic processes this data solely to generate your results and, under its terms, does not use it to train its AI models. Anthropic is contractually required to protect this data with the same or equivalent safeguards described in this policy. We do not sell this data and never use it for advertising. What we never do

  • We never sell your personal or health data.
  • We never use your health data for advertising or share it with advertisers.
  • We never share your data with third parties except the service providers needed to operate (hosting, payments, AI processing), each bound by their own privacy obligations.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting support@mydietjourney.app. Deletion is permanent and processed within 30 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to production systems is restricted and audited.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us at support@mydietjourney.app to exercise any of these rights.

Children

MyDietJourney is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes

We'll notify you by email of material changes to this policy before they take effect.
